Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

The School of Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University [LJMU] seeks to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow - NHS Talking Therapies for Depression and Anxiety.

We are looking to appoint a Talking Therapies Practitioner to contribute teaching on our accredited undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes in Talking Therapies. The focus of the teaching will be in Talking Therapies. We are pleased to consider applications from practitioners with supervisory and training experience who have limited experience of teaching in Higher Education.

This post provides the opportunity to join our dynamic team at a significant time of growth for the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Health. The post will help ensure we uphold our excellent staff student ratios and continue to build on our delivery of excellent teaching and research in Psychology.

In the last National Student Survey we scored above the benchmark for all themes and saw an increase in our ranking across all major league tables, including The Times, Guardian, and Good University Guide.

The School has a thriving and vibrant research culture and outstanding teaching and research facilities. We submitted over 42 FTE staff to REF2021, increased our Research Power (from 27 in 2014 to 76 in 2021) and were ranked 37 out of 93 Institutions for Research Power. Staff in the department currently hold substantial research grants from funders including Euro EU Chanse, Wellcome, NIHR, ESRC, BA, NHS Trusts, and a range of charitable organisations. The Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/research/centres-and-institutes/research-centre-for-brain-and-behaviour brings together research in the department under four main themes: Neuroscience, Health and Wellbeing, Forensic Psychology and Cognition, Education and Language.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to our successful BPS Accredited programmes at undergraduate and Masters level.

The School operates a hybrid working policy. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with research/applied experience who is dedicated to providing an outstanding student experience who can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Informal enquiries can be made to Karen Rea  k.rea@ljmu.ac.uk  or Prof Helen Poole h.m.poole@ljmu.ac.uk

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
