The university has created a new academic career pathway for staff in academic roles. The structure focuses on career pathways, these being:

  • Academic – members of staff whose responsibilities encompass both discipline-based research and teaching and learning.
  • Academic, Teaching & Learning – members of staff whose responsibilities are primarily teaching-focused, including pedagogic research.

The new pathways have been designed to ensure that academic strengths whether in research, scholarship, teaching, the wider student experience, leadership or innovation and engagement, are all appropriately recognised, developed, valued, and rewarded.

They reflect parity in progression and reward in recognition of these contributions and they enable individuals to focus on and be supported in their professional development and practice during the course of their career.

You should apply against the job description that they feel best reflects their strengths and expertise.  On appointment, assignment to the appropriate pathway and job description will be based on the successful candidate’s experience and academic strengths.

Informal enquires can be made to Professor Mike Riley (Interim School Director) at M.L.Riley@ljmu.ac.uk or Dr Martin Hanneghan (Subject Head) at M.B.Hanneghan@ljmu.ac.uk

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.
