About the School of Nursing, Public and Allied Health

The School of Nursing, Public and Allied Health has been committed to advancing developments in health and social care for over 25 years, tracing our origins back to 1991 when the Liverpool School of Nursing and Midwifery joined with Liverpool Polytechnic. Today, we continue to strive to tackle health inequalities, social exclusion, and deprivation in local communities (and beyond) through our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and a growing programme of international partnerships as well as providing both aspiring and experienced nursing and allied health professionals with the learning experiences and research opportunities needed to meet the demands of current and future healthcare landscapes.

We are a multi award-winning school, having won the Student Nursing Times Awards on three occasions since 2018.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Lecturer to join our School of Nursing, Public and Allied Health. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality nursing education within a dynamic and supportive academic environment.

As part of our nursing team, you will play a key role in delivering engaging teaching, learning and assessment activities across a range of programmes. You will support students to achieve their full potential through excellent academic, pastoral and professional guidance while contributing to curriculum development and enhancement.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring contemporary clinical expertise and a commitment to maintaining strong links with professional practice. You will be encouraged to engage in scholarship, professional development and knowledge exchange activities that enhance the student experience and ensure the continued relevance of our programmes.

You will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Hold an honours degree and a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Have experience of teaching in higher education or delivering professional training in practice settings.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive and student-centred learning.
  • Be able to inspire, motivate and support students from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be committed to continuing professional development and maintaining professional registration.

Experience in curriculum development, module leadership and the use of digital technologies to support learning would be advantageous.

What we offer

This is a key moment to join a welcoming, ambitious, and research-informed university community that places students at the heart of everything we do. We value and invest in our staff, offering meaningful opportunities for professional development, scholarship support, and clear internal promotion routes.

As well as outstanding development support, we also offer:

  • A low contractual 35-hour week
  • Generous annual leave entitlement and Christmas period closure with the option to purchase additional annual leave
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Family friendly policies
  • Car and travel loan schemes

We are also investing in our staff and students by creating a busy and thriving campus, the hubs of which are our friendly and inclusive Student Life, Redmonds, Tithebarn and Byrom Street buildings.  Our staff are visible and present for our students and this all adds to the fantastic student experience of living and studying in such a vibrant city. We see our staff as very much part of this community and value their contribution to the success of LJMU, Liverpool and the wider northwest region.

If you share our commitment to excellence in nursing education and want to make a difference to the future healthcare workforce, we would love to hear from you.
