We are seeking a credible and influential HR professional to join our well-established and highly regarded Business Partnering service. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the workforce of tomorrow and making a strategic impact within a future-focused university.

Our HR Business Partner model is a recognised institutional strength, providing consistent, trusted support across Schools and Professional Services. As we continue to deliver our 2030 Strategy, this role will further embed the People Plan locally, with a strong focus on impactful leadership, performance and development, attraction and retention, and building an adaptive, inclusive culture that supports change and drives engagement.

 As a trusted adviser and critical friend to senior leaders, you will:

  • Build strong, credible relationships to understand business priorities and deliver expert, strategic HR support.
  • Translate University and faculty strategies into aligned local People Plans that drive performance, capability, resilience and engagement.
  • Lead strategic workforce and succession planning to ensure long-term sustainability and business continuity.
  • Coach and influence leaders to strengthen management capability and embed a high-performance, inclusive culture.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, formal processes and tribunal preparation.

You will be a Chartered CIPD member with substantial HR Business Partnering experience within a large, complex organisation. You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • A track record of delivering impactful HR interventions that enhance organisational performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence with credibility and confidence.
  • Experience acting as a culture change agent and managing complex ER casework.

Experience working with operational services particularly estates, facilities, and in highly unionised environments, is highly desirable, as this role will support Estates and Campus Services alongside other professional service areas.
